One week left before Danny starts back to work. It has been quite an exhausting journey getting moved and settled. It has had its ups but more downs and there is still quite a bit to do to get the house in shipshape. So what do we do? We put down our hammers, levels, brooms, and dusters and don our walking shoes (with GPS in hand) in search of adventures around our new town! I spent quite a few hours researching during nighttime feedings to find free-ish activities to fill our week. It has also amazed me how God has put people and even parks in our path as we have traveled.
Here's part one!
Saturday we headed out in the early morning to the Clarksville Farmers Market! The boys loved picking out different veggies like purple and white bell peppers and yellow zucchini. Danny found the biggest (and juiciest) cantaloupe ever, and the boys talked him into getting kettle corn. The kind man from Mrs. Lucille's even topped our bag off after we had snacked a little :) Right beside the market was the riverfront walk. It crosses old train bridges and meanders along the riverside. We strolled, discovered interesting plants, ran from the "savages" that looked strangely like our boys, and climbed on every rock in sight. On our way home we ran into a park. Popcorn picnic in the pavilion by the playground! We did go home and have salads with our farmer's market finds.

During afternoon quite time the bigs worked on making their own drums and percussion instruments. A town just north of us (actually in Kentucky) has a Drum Circle every fourth Saturday evening. Thankfully it is right beside a playground and another riverside walking trail. The boys worked very hard making their drums just right, but when we got there they were a little timid. The drum circle is run by a retired elementary school music teacher. He brings his drums, shakers, rattles, wood blocks, and cow bells. Once they got into it they enjoyed trying out the new instruments. Even Juliet had rhythm! After another short walk and lots of playground time we headed home to recoup for another fun day!

Sunday we spent the morning playing before chapel. It feels so strange to have free time before church. We are use to leaving the house around 8 and now it feels like half the day goes by before we need to load up. Chapel Next did not disappoint! We loved our time of worship and no one cried upon drop-off - score!
It rained that afternoon, providing the perfect background for naps and reading. Once the rain stopped the natives got restless, so I googled parks and found that there was a decent sized park practically in our backyard. Ha! It was the most redneck park I have ever visited. There was a small cow river (meaning cows lived upstream) flowing through where scantily clad people were wading, eating barbeque from the back of gold cars with music blaring, and swinging in from rope swings into three feet deep water. It was quite the sight to behold! We did find a paved trail on the back side of the park that was empty. We journeyed to the end and back. It made for a pleasant evening walk with lots of discoveries!

On our way home we pulled in the local elementary school to play on the playground. Jonah has almost mastered pumping his legs on the swing. Finally!
We have lots more fun planned! But for now I need some sleep! :)
