My Little Bookworms' Picks

This week I raided the library shelves for other books written by Adam Rubin.  What do you know!?!  They were all favorites!  Huck asked to read them the second he woke up this morning - sweet boy!

Dragons Love Tacos - Super cute book about how much dragons love tacos but NOT spicy salsa.  Even has tips for how to host your own taco party . . . which dragons particularly love :D

Those Darn Squirrels - Mr. Fookwire loves birds, but he can't stand squirrels!  Find out how the squirrels get on his soft side!  There is also a sequel to this one titled Those Darn Squirrels Fly South.

I started a chapter book series with Jonah called A to Z Mysteries.  He looks like he isn't paying any attention, but when I stop reading or ask if he wants to go do something else he quickly tells me to keep going.  I will update when we finish the first one - 18 pages left!  The suspense is killing me :D

Bountiful Birthday Blessings!

I can't believe this year has sped by so fast.  Each day has been an exciting adventure trusting God as I try to raise these boys!  Jonah has grown into a curious, silly, energetic, adventurous big brother.  He loves to be a "Super Brother" and try to give me a heart attack!  Benaiah is very independent and happy.  He is always smiling . . . or eating.  You haven't seen him mad until he runs out of food.  He loves to play with balls, read books, and sing Old McDonald and Pattycake!  They are cherished blessings, and we had so much fun celebrating Jonah's fourth and Benaiah's first year!

The boys treated me to a sleep-in!  (I was super glad because I was up half the night watching for closings and cancellations.)  Jonah was too precious when he came into my room and asked, "Am I four?" about three times, almost as if he couldn't believe it.  Then we crept downstairs to find decorations and to enjoy some sprinkle pancakes!   Boy, can these boys eat.  Maybe we shouldn't have any more birthdays.  By the time they are teenagers it will take me all day to cook enough pancakes to fill them up!  Four is old enough.

Next, we read Happy Birthday to You by Dr. Seuss and God Gave Us You.   Dr. Seuss suggest hotdogs for a birthday lunch.  Thankfully, we had some!

Surprise!  A special delivery for the birthday boys - balloons from Mamzie and Papa!  These were a BIG hit!

That afternoon it started snowing! It snowed the night Jonah was born, and it returned to celebrate with him.  They were all so excited to see it falling and turning the world white.

We were suppose to order pizza, but we didn't want to make any delivery guys risk their lives.  Thankfully, our friends next door could brave the walk to share some frozen pizzas.  Of course, we had to have Ninja Turtle cupcakes.   I think Jonah enjoyed having big boy friends over.  It helps that they are super sweet!

My Bookworms' Picks

This past week we really scored at the library!  The boys had a hard time picking favorites!   I love that my boys love books.  It makes me smile when the big boys "read" to each other or to Benaiah.  Here are the books that got lots of page turning this week . . .

Extra Yarn - Surprise!  The bear from Have You Seen My Hat peeks into this book about a girl who finds an endless supply of yarn.  She makes sweaters for everything - even a truck!

How to Bake an Apple Pie and See the World - This was actually one of my favorites too!  The book tells you that making an apple pie is easy - just go to the store, buy the ingredients, mix them together, bake, and enjoy.  However, if the store is closed you must travel around the world getting all the ingredients.  It gave us a wonderful opportunity to talk about the continents, countries, transportation, and make an apple pie!  Yum!

Secret Pizza Party - Poor Raccoon doesn't get any pizza, so he plans a secret pizza party! My boys loved whispering, "Secret Pizza Party," so no one would hear - because we would hate for the raccoon sniffing broom bots to show up!  :D

Twenty-Six Pirates - Cute alphabet and rhyming book about pirates.  Boys could read it to themselves after a few times through!  I hear there is a princess version, but who needs princesses?

Hopefully the snow will hold off long enough for us to restock.  The library was closed on Friday when we tried!  How dare they!

Jonah's Fourth Birthday!

Four years already!  Time sure does fly when you are having fun!  What joy it has brought me to watch this little man grow! What an honor to be entrusted with one of God's children!  Jonah is so full of excitement, energy, curiosity, love, and cuddles.  I interviewed him for his fourth birthday and here is what he had to say!
