We started at the Clarksville Greenway. It is a shaded, paved trail that use to be train rails. Under the trees we didn't realize how hot it was. We went quite a ways finding wild turkeys, colorful butterflies, and walking up on two deer just feet away!
Once we made it back to the marshmallow van we all had a snack and headed north to Guthrie, KY. Greeting us was this guy!
And less than a mile away, this guy!
The boys gave them names, Moo-y and Ellie. We found a couple Amish/Mennonite stores to visit. The first was the Country Pantry. The boys talked Danny into some treats - really had to twist his arm on that one ;) We also found a bakery that smelled like heaven. It was filled with fresh baked breads, pies, cakes, and cinnamon rolls. I am so glad this store is not too close to our house - it could be dangerous! We picked up some delicious baked goods for later and headed to find some lunch. While eating we ran into some construction workers. Of course, the boys were asking them so many questions and making them laugh. One man let us in on a little hidden secret - a deer farm! Our next stop!
Sure enough it was a deer farm. So many deer!!! Bucks, does, and fawns all separated and tagged. The boys wanted to pet them, but my sweet boys aren't the stealthiest. :)
We also found some cicada casings which are great fun for scaring!
After that last stop we were headed home . . . were. Danny and I had no sooner commented that a park would be nice when, low and behold, there was a park! A playground, walking trail, and grass for playing Frisbee! One more stop won't hurt anyone :)
NOW, we are headed home to eat our bakery sweets. Thumbs up from the judges!
