My February Babies

This past weekend we got to celebrate two of the most amazing boys in the whole wide world!  Jonah turned 8 and Benaiah is now 5.  I tried to convince Benaiah to cancel his birthday, but I was informed that I couldn't change God's mind and if I tried he would turn 100.  Well, I better keep my mouth shut!

Benaiah has grown and learned so much this past year.  He doesn't look like a little preschooler anymore.  (Insert sobs here.)  He learned to ride a bike without training wheels and a two-wheel scooter, can sing all the U.S. capitals, and is great at finding the perfect Lego piece we need.  He loves being read to, UNO, puzzles, playing pretend sheriff (I think he just likes locking me up.), and sitting on the counter to help me cook.  He can be super silly and our family clown and then be very serious.  Even though he is the smallest of the big boys he doesn't let them get away with anything. He is a super sweet brother to Juliet and the babies. He likes to give Theo bottles and play "puppies" with Juliet.  He doesn't say much, but when he does it will be something important.  I love his determination.  It is inspiring to watch him try to score a basket when he is a fourth the height of the goal or write a full sentence when each letter has to be copied carefully. He has an amazing mind for spacial reasoning that blows me away.

Jonah is becoming a true "big kid".  He has finally bought into reading and reads everything he can find!  His favorite topic of study is predators.  He has boundless energy and is always on the move on his bike, scooter, rollerblades, or doing flips on my couch.  He loves playing soccer, basketball, and racing.  He is bottomless and can eat more than all the other kiddos combined.  Taking thirds is normal for him. He is strong, fast, and smart and uses those gifts to serve our family.  He makes teaching math easy.  I will look at a lesson thinking how difficult the concept will be and he will be completing the assignment without much instruction.  He is still a cuddler (and I hope he always will be).  He still needs a high-five, pound-it, noggin, hug, and kiss and his same CD of music for bedtime.  Jonah is a natural-born leader.  He has charisma for whatever goal he sets and can lead others to help reach it.  He loves to be challenged physically and astounds me with his ability.  Details and taking his time are not his strong suits, but that's what Eli is for :)

And now for the birthday interviews and annual Daddy shirt pictures!
