Eight is Gonna Be Great!

We had so much fun this past weekend celebrating these two amazing boys!  They are a joy and we tried to make their birthday reflect back all the joy they bring to our family.  We spent the day playing basketball, eating yummy treats, and playing at the (indoor) pool.

Huck is the easiest child to blend in with the crowd.  He rarely picks a favorite anything, and it is probably because he is happy to go with the flow and do whatever his playmate it doing.  This characteristic makes him a wonderful buddy to every sibling, but it means I have to be very intentional about spending time with just him.  He is brave and loves to try new things.  When I get worried about the boys' latest daring feat he looks at me and says, "Next time you should stay home and let dad bring us."  Ha!  He loves to construct Legos, ride his bike, and read chapter books.  He is a whiz with math facts and has lovely handwriting.  He loves bananas more than any other food, so we have to make sure we don't run out.  He eats 3 a day!  Huck has a handsome smile.  I love his generous spirit.  He is willing to share and give if it makes another person happy.

He sees a need and offers a hand without being asked.  He also looks out for me and his younger siblings by opening doors, lifting heavy items, and putting band-aids on boo boos.  He has a competitive spirit that is starting to show.  He strives to be his best and is resilient when faced with a setback.  He likes to roller blade, ice skate, play basketball, and do any kind of craft or art project.  Eli has a thankful heart and thanks me for cooking, taking him places, reading to him, washing his clothes - pretty much everything.  I love his grateful heart!
